Faulty, never-opened Pro bring from 15 €. At this age the battery almost always decides: if the earbuds no longer last an hour with noise cancellation, the pair slips into the lower levels. MagSafe or Qi case makes no difference.

Crackling, hissing, dead battery: we buy faulty Pro 1 too
On the first AirPods Pro an earbud often crackles as soon as noise cancellation is on, or one side’s battery dies within minutes. That is no reason to throw them away: with both earbuds and case, never opened, we buy them as faulty from 15 €. Without the case we pay at most that amount; we do not take single earbuds.
What we check on old AirPods Pro
We measure how long each earbud plays with and without noise cancellation, listen for crackling and test microphones and Transparency mode. On the case we look at lid, hinge and charging port. Because the Pro 1 were often in someone’s ears daily for years, we also check the mesh: clean it carefully with a soft brush and rinse the silicone tips with clean water. Accessories add nothing.

Remove the first AirPods Pro from Find My
Open the Find My app, choose the AirPods Pro under Devices and tap Remove This Device. On your iPhone also choose Forget This Device under Bluetooth. Then put both earbuds in the case, wait 30 seconds with the lid closed, open it and hold the button on the back for about 15 seconds until the light flashes amber, then white. Is it worth selling old AirPods Pro 1?
Yes, as long as both earbuds and the case work. Even faulty, AirPods Pro 1 still bring from 15 €, and you save the trip to the recycling centre. The battery keeps fading every year, though, so now is a better time than later.
How do I recognise first-generation AirPods Pro?
In your iPhone’s Bluetooth settings tap the info icon next to the AirPods to see the model number. From the outside the case helps: first-generation AirPods Pro have no speaker and no loop for a lanyard, while the Pro 2 do.
One earbud of my AirPods Pro 1 crackles, will you still buy them?
Yes. Crackling or static with noise cancellation on is a known problem on the AirPods Pro 1. With both earbuds and case, never opened, we buy them as faulty from 15 €. Select the fault in the calculator.
Does the MagSafe case bring more than the Qi case on AirPods Pro 1?
No. Both case versions of the AirPods Pro 1 bring the same amount with us. The MagSafe case came in 2021 and attaches magnetically to the charger, but on the second-hand market that makes hardly any difference.
How much does the battery affect the price of my AirPods Pro 1?
On the first Pro model the battery is the key point. If the earbuds still last two to three hours, that is good for their age. If they are empty after a few minutes, the AirPods Pro 1 count as faulty and we pay from 15 €.
Will you take AirPods Pro 1 without the charging case?
Only at the faulty price of at most 15 €, and only with both earbuds. We do not buy a single AirPods Pro 1 earbud or a case on its own, because it no longer makes a complete set.
Where is the best place to sell used AirPods Pro 1?
Privately, the effort for used AirPods Pro 1 is large compared with the amount, and many buyers distrust old earbuds. With us you work out the value online, ship them free and have the money around 48 hours after the inspection.
Does shipping my AirPods Pro 1 cost anything?
No. You get an insured shipping label by email and drop the AirPods Pro 1 at the post office, wherever you live in Austria. We pay for shipping.
What if the checked price for my AirPods Pro 1 does not suit me?

How do I reset the first AirPods Pro before selling them?
First remove them in Find My, then earbuds in the case, lid closed for 30 seconds, open it and hold the button on the back for about 15 seconds until the light flashes amber, then white. After that the first-generation AirPods Pro are separated from your Apple Account.
How do I get paid for the AirPods Pro 1?
By PayPal or bank transfer, around 48 hours after the inspection. We deliberately do not pay cash, not even for small amounts. Every purchase runs on a written contract.
Can I trade in AirPods Pro 1 at Apple?
Apple does not name AirPods as a trade-in device on its Austrian trade-in page and recycles them for free. You usually get no money for them there. With us there is a fixed amount for working AirPods Pro 1.
Should I include the spare ear tips of the AirPods Pro 1?
Not necessary, they add nothing. What matters are the two tips on the earbuds, which you rinse with clean water and let dry beforehand. You can keep box and cable of the AirPods Pro 1 as well.
Is the estimate for my AirPods Pro 1 binding?
It becomes binding after our inspection. Until then it is an estimate based on what you told us about battery and condition. If that is accurate, it usually stays at the estimated value for the AirPods Pro 1.
