The iPhone SE 2022 has a glass back – the same design as the iPhone 8. The glass is firmly bonded to the aluminium frame and has to be released with heat and special tools. Unlike the SE 2020, there is no difference in the back glass on the SE 2022 – both models share the same 4.7-inch housing without a wireless charging coil. A crack in the back is no trivial matter: it makes the housing more vulnerable to moisture.

What sets the back of the SE 2022 apart from the SE 2020?

Both models – SE 2020 and SE 2022 – have a glass back without a wireless charging coil. The SE 2020 is based on the iPhone 8 chassis, and so is the SE 2022. The housing colours differ, but the design is identical: 4.7 inches, aluminium frame, glass back, home button.

No MagSafe on the SE 2022

MagSafe and wireless charging are features that were only introduced from the iPhone 12 (MagSafe) and iPhone 8 (Qi wireless charging) onwards. The iPhone SE 2022 supports neither – even after the back glass replacement, it stays on cable-only charging via Lightning.

A crack in the back can let moisture into the device and, over time, damage the camera or the mainboard. We recommend a prompt repair to avoid consequential damage.
Does Touch ID stay active after the back glass replacement?
Yes. The home button and Touch ID are not touched during the back glass replacement. The cryptographic pairing between sensor and device remains fully intact.
Do you use original back glass panels?
We use high-quality aftermarket back glass panels that match the original in quality and appearance. Original Apple housing parts are not available to independent repair shops. All parts come with a 6-month warranty.
