The Slim Digital is the November 2023 redesign — the shorter, lighter body with four removable cover panels — and it has no disc drive bolted on out of the box. Its model number starts CFI-2000, with a B suffix on the digital variant, printed on the rear sticker. If yours has the disc drive attached it's the disc Slim; if it's the taller launch console it's the standard CFI-1000.

The digital Slim runs the same APU as the disc model in the same compact body, so its cooling block clogs with dust just as quickly — removing the disc drive doesn't change the thermals. When heat can't escape the fan ramps up and the system eventually shuts down to protect itself. Neither, really. The disc module is a separate clip-on part, so its absence doesn't change how we open the console or reach the board, HDMI port, PSU or cooling. The four cover panels release in the same sequence as on the disc Slim. Sony's manufacturer warranty voids the moment any independent shop opens the console — that applies to every third-party service, not just Reparo.
