- Open the frame with cold-adhesive release
On the Flip5 we use precision tools — the hinge construction is sensitive to improper heat. The outer frame is released with suction cups and slim spudgers.
- Disconnect the old Flex-AMOLED
The defective panel is detached from the central hinge shaft. The touch flex line to the mainboard stays secured. Every speck of dust is wiped away before the new panel is positioned.
- Fit the original panel, test the hinge
Place the original Samsung panel, connect the flex, the protective film is factory-fixed. After reassembly, 20 open-and-close cycles as a stress test — the hinge must run evenly. After 3 hours the replacement is done.

329 € sounds like a lot. A new Z Flip5 currently costs 520 to 620 € used, a new Z Flip7 starts at 1,190 €. For everyone hooked on the foldable design who loves the compact flip format, repair is the more rational choice.
A straight statement: aftermarket panels for foldables do exist, but they usually only last 6 to 12 months before the crease tears again. We only fit original Samsung panels. That is more expensive, but the only honest option.
How do you treat the new display correctly?
Do not close it at an extreme angle with something between the halves — no keychain, no headphones. In cold below -5 °C do not open and close it. No high pressure load on the fold. With that care it lasts another 2 to 3 years.

How long does the repair take?
Around 3 hours — longer than on classic Galaxy devices because of the hinge complexity. Same-day possible in Vienna, 3 to 4 working days from the provinces.
Does the IPX8 water protection rating remain after the replacement?
We renew the seal at the hinge, but legally the original IPX8 certification expires with any third-party intervention. Splash water is still no problem, avoid submersion.
Can I have only part of the Flip5 — just the damaged area — replaced?
No. The Flex-AMOLED is a one-piece panel. Even if only the upper or lower part is cracked, the complete inner display must be replaced.
Is all data preserved during the replacement?

My Z Flip5 has water contact at the hinge — still repairable?
First a 25 € diagnostic. Water in the hinge can damage the electronics at the flex cable. If there is mainboard corrosion, it has to be treated first — otherwise the new display only lasts weeks.
