The original flagships have a glued transparent back cover that must be opened to replace the charging port. After installation, the Glyph charging strip – which lights up exactly when the cable is plugged in – is checked for correct function. Wireless charging stays unaffected by the procedure.

When Does the Nothing Phone Charging Port Need Repair?

Device only charges in a certain cable position
If the cable has to be held at a certain angle for the device to charge, the USB-C connector is mechanically worn. Contacts have loosened from repeated plugging in – replacing the connector solves the problem permanently.
Glyph Interface shows no charging animation
The Nothing Phone's Glyph Interface lights up when the charging cable is connected. If the animation stays off even though the cable is plugged in, a faulty charging connector can be the cause – the signal for the Glyph animation comes directly from the charging process.
Cable falls out of the port
If the cable no longer holds in the USB-C port on its own, the spring contacts have given way. This happens with frequently used devices after a few years – a replacement restores the firm fit.
Device no longer charges at all

Is the Charging Port Repair Worth It on the Nothing Phone?
Repairing a faulty charging port for from 49 € is in almost all cases the most economical decision. The only alternative is permanent wireless charging – which isn't possible at all on the CMF Phone 1. Buying new or used is considerably more expensive.
Important: wireless charging is no permanent substitute for a working USB-C connector. Some charging pads charge more slowly, and cable data sync isn't possible with it. Especially on the CMF Phone 1 – without wireless charging – the repair is the only sensible option.

A wobbly USB-C connector is unpleasant, but solvable. On Nothing models the connector is soldered and sits on the mainboard – not a simple swap module like on some other brands. That means: soldering work is required, and the back cover has to be opened.
Is wireless charging a good substitute when the port is faulty?
In the short term yes – Phone 1, 2, 2a and 3a support wireless charging. The CMF Phone 1, however, does not: if the charging port is gone, there is no way to charge anymore. And even on devices with wireless charging, you then lose the ability to transfer data by cable or charge with the full charging current. A repair is always the better long-term solution.

If the cable no longer clicks fully into place or only holds loosely, there is often compressed pocket dust in the port.
