Typical screen damage on the Poco F2 Pro
The bay of the extending selfie camera is a fine seam at the top edge of the display. In a fall, the AMOLED glass preferentially breaks exactly at this edge – the crack runs across the entire upper half of the panel.
The panel shows a normal image in everyday use, but when you open the camera app the pop-up unit extends – and at exactly that moment green or pink stripes appear. The cause: the loose AMOLED flex shifts as soon as the frame is mechanically stressed.
The motor tries to extend the selfie camera but stops halfway up because glass shards or a warped frame part jam the bay. The device shows an error message or automatically retracts the unit.
The pop-up unit still extends fully but produces a clearly audible scratching noise. The cracked panel rubs against the metal frame of the camera unit – every further extension enlarges the crack.

Poco F2 Pro screen cracked – why the pop-up bay is the weak point
The Poco F2 Pro was Xiaomi's experiment with a bezel-less AMOLED without a notch and without a punch-hole. Instead of a hole in the panel, the selfie camera got its own motor-driven bay that lifts it out of the housing on demand. That looks impressive – but it creates a mechanical seam at exactly the top edge of the display that breaks under impact load. If the device falls onto a kerbstone or a table, the crack almost always runs along this seam, because that is where the glass tension is highest.
The consequence is treacherous: in standby the panel often still appears intact, and the damage only shows when the pop-up camera extends. That is because the motor applies minimal pressure to the upper panel edge as it extends – enough to briefly shift the flex line and trigger stripes, colour faults or a partial blackout. A clear sign: as soon as stripes only appear in selfie mode, the damage is in the panel, not the camera.
Why the pop-up mechanism enlarges the crack
Anyone who keeps using the device with a fine crack risks massive follow-on damage.
