Four years old: where the A04s usually fails
Samsung announced the A04s at the end of August 2022, and it has been on sale since September 2022. In autumn 2026 it is therefore four years old. It shipped with Android 12, and the last major update was Android 14 with One UI 6.1. In the workshop we mostly see two faults: the 6.5-inch screen often breaks at a corner in a drop, and after four years of daily charging the battery has noticeably less power. Both are done in one to two hours.
A04s or A04: why the difference matters for the repair
The two models look alike but are different phones. The A04s carries the model number SM-A047F, has a 90 Hz screen and a fingerprint sensor in the power key. You decide which option suits you when booking. Within Vienna we collect the A04s from you, from EUR 7.90 depending on the zone, and bring it back repaired. From Graz, Linz or Innsbruck you send it in a padded box, and it comes back insured. Or you pick a drop-off slot in the 22nd district: drop-off by appointment only, there is no open walk-in workshop. It went on sale in September 2022, which makes it four years old this autumn. For an entry-level phone that is no reason to throw it away: with a new battery or a new screen it keeps working for messaging, photos and navigation as before.
What is the difference between the Samsung A04s and A04?
The A04s has a fingerprint sensor in the power key and a 90 Hz screen; the A04 has no fingerprint sensor. The screens are different spare parts, which is why the replacement costs EUR 89 on the A04s and EUR 99 on the A04. We replace the battery on both for EUR 49.
Where do I find the model number SM-A047F on my A04s?
The model number is shown in Settings under “About phone”. If it starts with SM-A047, you have an A04s and the prices on this page apply. If it says SM-A045, it is an A04 with its own prices.
My Galaxy A04s no longer charges – what can I do?
First try a different cable and charger and shine a torch into the USB-C port; pocket lint often sits there. If that does not help, the cause is the port, the battery or the logic board. We find out in the EUR 25 diagnostic check, which is waived if you go ahead with a repair.
Can I drop off my A04s in person after booking?
Yes, by appointment: you pick a fixed slot in the 22nd district while booking, and outside booked times the location is unstaffed. Prefer to stay home? Then have the A04s collected in Vienna or post it to us.
How does pickup of the A04s work in Vienna?
You book online, choose a time window and address, and we collect the A04s there. After the repair we deliver it back to the same address. You already see the zone price from EUR 7.90 in the booking form.
Can I send in my A04s from outside Vienna?
Yes, from anywhere in Austria. After booking you get instructions: switch the phone off, remove SIM and memory card, put it padded into a sturdy box. It comes back insured, usually within two to four working days.
How long is the warranty on an A04s repair?
Six months on the fitted part and the work. Should the new screen fail in that period, or the new battery lose capacity unusually quickly, we put it right at no charge. Damage from new drops or water is not included.
Are genuine Samsung parts used in the A04s?
For the screen, yes: we fit an original Samsung screen, and the EUR 89 price applies to it. For the battery you get an original battery or a certified replacement with 5,000 mAh. We give a six-month warranty on both parts.
Will my photos and chats survive the A04s repair?
Yes, screen and battery replacement do not touch the storage. Photos on a microSD card are best taken out beforehand, then they are doubly safe. A backup to the Google or Samsung cloud never hurts.
Is it worth repairing the A04s or should I buy a new phone?
With a single fault, usually the repair. You pay EUR 49 for the new battery, while Samsung launched the Galaxy A17 5G in 2025 at around EUR 230. If screen and battery are both gone, we honestly set both items against a new phone.
Is the Galaxy A04s waterproof?
No, Samsung does not state an IP rating for the A04s. If it got wet, switch it off immediately and do not charge it. Then book an appointment quickly: we open it, clean the logic board and then tell you the price.
