Pixel 5 housing swap Vienna – why EUR 129 instead of EUR 109?
The Pixel 5 has a quirk that barely exists today: a complete aluminium unibody. Instead of a glued-on glass back, the frame is milled from a single aluminium block and serves as the back of the device at the same time. So that wireless charging still works, Google milled a cutout into the aluminium and filled and coated it with bio-resin — a special synthetic resin with a recycled content. This design looks elegant but makes every housing repair a major operation.
With a classic glass back, only the glass is detached and a new one glued on. On the Pixel 5, by contrast, the device has to be almost completely taken apart: release the display, remove the mainboard, transfer the battery, camera module and wireless charging coil to the new aluminium frame. That is why the Pixel 5 housing repair costs EUR 129 and not the usual EUR 109 as with glass models.
Does wireless charging remain after the unibody swap?
Yes. The new aluminium unibody has exactly the same cutout with bio-resin coating as the original — the Qi coil sits beneath it and charges through the synthetic resin. Does wireless charging work despite the aluminium back?
Yes. Google milled a cutout into the aluminium and filled it with bio-resin (synthetic resin). Through this non-metallic window the Qi coil beneath charges inductively. After the unibody swap, wireless charging works as before.
Why does the Pixel 5 repair cost more than on glass models?
Because with the aluminium unibody the entire device has to be taken apart. Mainboard, battery, camera module, wireless coil and display are released from the old frame and transferred to the new unibody. With a glass back only a piece of glass is swapped — that is why it is EUR 129 instead of EUR 109.
How long does the Pixel 5 unibody swap take?
About 2–3 hours in the workshop. With a pickup in Vienna you usually get the device back the same day. By postal send-in from Austria we expect a total turnaround of 1–3 working days.

Does the IP68 water protection remain after the repair?
Yes, provided the frame is manufactured correctly and the seal kit is renewed completely. That is exactly what we do: complete seals around the display, camera module and SIM tray are replaced. This keeps the IP68 rating functional.
Can I drop by spontaneously with the Pixel 5?
No, Reparo works without a walk-in counter. You book an appointment via the website and we collect the device via pickup service in Vienna, or you send it in by post. That is more convenient and more predictable for both sides.
How does the pickup service in Vienna work?
After booking you get a time slot. Our courier comes to the given address, hands you a handover slip and brings the Pixel 5 to the workshop. After the repair it is delivered straight back.
Can I send the Pixel 5 in from the federal states?
Yes, we repair across Austria. Pack the device in the original box or a well-padded shipping package and send it by post. Repair and return together take 1–3 working days.
Is my data preserved during the housing swap?
Yes. The storage sits on the mainboard, which we only release from the old frame and fit unchanged into the new unibody. Photos, apps, contacts and settings are fully preserved — a backup beforehand never hurts, though.
