Z Fold4 screen replacement — procedure
- Intake diagnosis with Flex Hinge check
Touch test along the fold line, resistance of the Flex Hinge against Samsung specification, condition of the PET film and UDC functionality. The 6.2-inch cover AMOLED is checked separately and stays untouched.
- Open both housing halves precisely
The left and right halves are opened under temperature control. The IPX8 adhesive frames are removed completely, flex cables secured.
- Remove old Flex AMOLED, clean the area
In the low-dust chamber the damaged panel is released from the hinge core. Every dust particle in the crease is removed with ionised air.
- New genuine panel, film, hinge calibration
Fit the genuine Samsung panel with factory-applied PET film. Connect flex cables. 20 fold cycles as a stress test, calibrate the Flex Hinge for torque. Done after 3.5 hours.

€379 repair vs. €700 used Fold4 vs. €1,490 new Fold7. The Fold4 is 2022 flagship hardware with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and a 120 Hz display — still technically strong. Anyone who wants to keep using the fold format comes out around €320 cheaper with the repair.
To be clear: foldable display damage is prone to recurrence with a lack of care (cold, foreign objects, sharp items on the PET film). We give you care advice with the repair — but we cannot guarantee against a new crease break.
What can you do for the next display life cycle?
Do not press the crease with your fingernails. Do not trap anything between the halves when closing. Do not snap it shut abruptly at temperatures below -5 °C. Do not apply tempered-glass films afterwards — the original PET film is precisely tuned.

A 25 EUR diagnosis first. Liquid in the flex routing can cause lasting damage. With corrosion this has to be cleaned first, otherwise the screen replacement will not last.
