How we change the S9 glass back
On the Galaxy S9 we replace the complete glass back. We warm the S9, lift the cracked glass, remove splinters and old adhesive from the frame and fit the new back cover with fresh adhesive. Including curing this usually takes two to three hours.
- Inspect the damage
We check whether anything under the glass is damaged, such as the fingerprint sensor or the charging coil. Only then do you approve.
- Lift the cracked glass
The S9 is warmed until the adhesive gives way. We remove the shattered back in pieces so that no splinter falls into the housing.
- Clean the frame
Adhesive residue and glass dust come off completely. Only on a clean frame will the new back hold for good.
- Glue in and test the new back cover
The new back is glued in and pressed. Then we test the fingerprint sensor, camera and wireless charging.

Back, sensor, charging: what sits behind the S9 glass
Directly under the glass back of the S9 are the wireless charging coil, the battery and the fingerprint sensor cable. The sensor itself sits in a cut-out under the camera. That is why we check after every replacement that unlocking and charging on the pad work properly.
Why not just put a new film on it?
A film over cracked glass only lasts a short time and feels uneven. The cracks also stay open to dust. We replace the whole glass panel, and the S9 feels smooth again afterwards.
