Faulty but never opened, it is from 10 €. With the wireless charging case you get 15 € more like new or with light wear, 10 € with visible scratches and no extra as a faulty unit. After six years the battery is almost always the deciding point on AirPods 2; how the case looks only comes second.

We take faulty AirPods 2 too
If an earbud only lasts ten minutes, the case no longer charges reliably or one side crackles, we buy the AirPods 2 as faulty, from 10 €. Both earbuds and the case must be included and never have been opened. Without the case you get at most that amount; we do not take single earbuds. At least the batteries do not end up in household waste this way.
Cable case or wireless case: the price difference
The AirPods 2 came with two cases. You recognise the wireless charging case by the status light on the outside front; on the Lightning case it sits inside between the earbuds. The wireless case brings 15 € more in the best condition. We test the runtime of both earbuds, sound, microphone and double-tap, plus lid and port of the case. We do not need box or cable.

If it suits you, you get an insured shipping label by email and drop the AirPods free at a post office anywhere in Austria. Remove AirPods 2 from your account
Open the Find My app, choose the AirPods under Devices and tap Remove This Device; on your iPhone also choose Forget This Device under Bluetooth. Then both earbuds in the case, lid closed for 30 seconds, open it and hold the button on the back for about 15 seconds until the light flashes amber, then white. What trade-in value do second-generation AirPods still have?
With both earbuds and Lightning case we pay for AirPods (2nd generation) up to 25 € like new, up to 20 € with light wear and up to 15 € with visible scratches. Faulty it is from 10 €. With the wireless charging case you get 15 € more in like-new condition, less with clear wear or a fault.
Is it worth selling old AirPods 2?
If both earbuds and the case still work, you get up to 25 € for the AirPods 2, up to 40 € with the wireless case. That is not much, but more than nothing, and shipping to us is free. If they only lie around, they lose value every year.
How do I recognise the wireless charging case of the AirPods 2?
By the status light on the outside front of the case. On the standard Lightning case the light sits inside between the earbuds. The wireless charging case of the AirPods 2 also charges on a Qi mat and brings 15 € more with us when like new.
How do I tell AirPods 2 from the first AirPods?
In your iPhone’s Bluetooth settings the info icon shows the model number. Second-generation AirPods also respond to “Hey Siri”, the first generation does not. We have no price list for the first generation.
Where can I sell my old AirPods 2?
Online with us: work out the value, get a free label, send the AirPods 2 insured to Vienna. Around 48 hours after the inspection the money arrives. A private sale is hardly worth the effort for earbuds around 25 €.
Do you buy AirPods 2 with a weak battery?
Yes. If the earbuds still last an hour or more, we rate them by condition. If they are empty after a few minutes, we buy the AirPods 2 as faulty, from 10 €. Tell us in the calculator how long a charge still lasts.
Will you take AirPods 2 without a case or just one earbud?
Without the case we pay at most the faulty price of 10 € for both AirPods 2 earbuds. We do not buy a single earbud or a case on its own, because they cannot be made into a complete set.
What do AirPods 2 with a scratched case bring?
With clearly visible scratches and worn spots on the case, AirPods 2 bring up to 15 €, with faint marks up to 20 €, both with the Lightning case. A lid that no longer closes counts as a fault.
How do I clean AirPods 2 before sending them in?
With a dry, soft cloth for earbuds and case; brush the mesh carefully with a soft, dry brush. No liquid should get into the openings. Clean AirPods 2 make a better impression during the inspection.
Is shipping AirPods 2 to you free?
Yes. You get an insured shipping label by email and drop the AirPods 2 at the post office, from any province. Shipping costs you nothing.
What if I refuse the checked price for my AirPods 2?
Then we send them back for 10 € return shipping. Because the amount is small for AirPods 2, we explain beforehand exactly what we found, so you can judge whether a return is worth it. Sending them in stays free.
How do I reset AirPods 2?
Both earbuds in the case, lid closed for 30 seconds, open it and hold the button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds until the light flashes amber, then white. Before that, remove the AirPods 2 from your Apple Account in Find My.
How is the trade-in of AirPods 2 paid?
By PayPal or bank transfer, around 48 hours after the inspection. We deliberately do not pay cash, not even for small amounts. Every purchase runs on a written contract.
Does Apple take back AirPods 2?
Apple recycles AirPods for free, but they are not named as a trade-in device on its Austrian trade-in page. There is usually no credit for them. With us you get a fixed amount for working AirPods 2.
Is the estimate for my AirPods 2 binding?
It becomes binding after our inspection. Until then the calculator value is an estimate based on your answers. If condition and battery of the AirPods 2 match, it usually stays at the estimated amount.
