A Xiaomi 12 Pro in the best condition brings 125 EUR, with light marks 105 EUR and, used with visible wear, 80 EUR. With a broken display, if the phone has never been opened, we pay 40 EUR. In Europe the 12 Pro never came with more than 256 GB. On the 12 Pro the price suffers most from the curved display, because the rounded edges do not forgive drops, and from a battery that has faded noticeably after four years of 120-watt charging.
What matters on a 12 Pro after four years
On the 12 Pro we first check whether the phone starts reliably and does not reboot unexpectedly. Then come the display, the three cameras, all four speakers, wired and wireless charging and the in-display fingerprint sensor. A muffled speaker or a jerky autofocus only shows up in a complete test like this.
We also buy a 12 Pro with a crack in the glass, a weak battery or a camera on strike. With a faulty display the amount is 40 EUR. If the phone has already been opened by a third party, the deduction is much higher.

Resetting MIUI without the lock kicking in
The 12 Pro usually still runs MIUI. There you find the Xiaomi account at the very top of Settings: tap it, sign out, confirm with your password, and “Find device” is off. Then remove the Google account under Accounts, back up your data and reset the phone. We cannot buy a phone that is still linked.
