ThinkPad T14 Repair Vienna
The T14 is the machine people keep for six years and then wonder why it feels tired. Usually it is one part, not the laptop: a cell down to ninety minutes, a charging socket worn by daily plugging, keys that bounce after thousands of emails. Screen and battery from €149, keyboard unit from €99, charging socket from €89. English service, 6-month warranty, diagnostic check 25 EUR waived on repair.
Every T14 generation and its close relatives
Lenovo counts the T14 in generations rather than years, and the number is printed on the same sticker on the underside as the machine type. Both the Intel and the AMD variants of each generation reach our bench.
Cannot find the generation? Read us the machine type from the sticker, the four characters that start with 20 or 21, and we place it immediately. Book a slot once the part is confirmed.
Which T14 repair do you need?
Pick the fault that matches what the machine is doing. If two of them fit, say so on the phone: on a T14 the pairs are usually connected, and a swollen cell lifting the touchpad is the most common of all.
* Diagnostic check 25 EUR, waived as soon as you approve the work. Where liquid has been in the machine the diagnosis is 49 EUR.
Why a T14 is usually worth repairing
- Screws instead of glue, so the bench time stays short and the price stays honest
- Pickup in Vienna from €14.90 including the return trip, or insured post from any province
- Your setup, your licences and your company configuration stay untouched
- 6-month warranty on the part and on the labour
What a ThinkPad T14 repair costs in Vienna
A ThinkPad T14 repair starts at €89 for the charging socket, €99 for the keyboard unit, €89 for the touchpad, €149 for the screen and €149 for the battery, with a cooling service from €59 and an SSD or memory upgrade from €169. The exact figure follows the diagnostic check, which costs 25 EUR and is waived once you approve the work. Nothing is added afterwards.
The T14 sits in the price band where repair almost always wins, and the reason is how Lenovo built it. The bottom cover comes off with screws, the battery is not glued into a pocket, and the keyboard is designed to be lifted out. A machine that opens in five minutes costs less to repair than one where the mainboard has to come out first, and you see that difference in the quote rather than in our margin.
Why the battery is the first thing to go on a T14
These machines live on office desks, plugged in most of the day. A cell held permanently at full charge and kept warm by the chassis loses capacity whether it is cycled or not, which is why a four-year-old T14 often still looks new and runs for ninety minutes. Around fifty watt-hours leave the factory in one of these; by the time the runtime halves, the measurable capacity is usually below sixty per cent. A fresh cell at €149 puts the working day back.
Typical damage patterns on a T14
Three arrive again and again. A charging socket worn loose by daily plugging and unplugging, often with the complaint that the cable has to be held at one particular angle. A keyboard where single keys bounce after years of email, or where liquid has been through the deck. And a cooling system packed with a felt of dust, which shows up as a fan that never stops and performance that collapses a few minutes into a video call.
My T14 will not start at all
Hold the power button for fifteen to twenty seconds to force it off, then connect a charger you know works, preferably in the other USB-C port. Watch the small light beside the socket: dark means no power is arriving and the fault is in the adapter, the cable or the port. A blink pattern means the firmware has a code we can read out. A deeply discharged cell looks the same, so leave it on mains for ten minutes before drawing conclusions.
Do parts from a T480 or T490 fit a T14?
Sometimes, and not in the way people hope. The T490 is the direct predecessor and shares some accessories, but the panel connector, the battery shape and the keyboard mounting changed with the T14 generations. We do not fit a part because it physically goes in; we fit the one specified for your machine type. That is also why we ask for the four-character type code rather than the purchase year, since two T14s bought months apart can be different generations.
Can the graphics chip be replaced in a ThinkPad?
Not as a separate component. In a T14 the graphics sit inside the main processor package, soldered to the mainboard, so there is no card to swap the way a desktop has. What can be done is the honest alternative: if the fault really is in the graphics path, the repair is a board-level one and we say what it costs before starting. Very often a black picture turns out to be the panel or the display cable instead, which is the far cheaper outcome.
Repair or replace a ThinkPad T14?
A used T14 holds its value better than almost any consumer laptop, trading in the several hundreds depending on generation and memory. Against that, €149 for a battery or €99 for a keyboard is an easy yes, and you keep your setup, your licences and your company configuration exactly as they are. Where we advise caution is an older T14 needing a screen and a mainboard in the same month. Then we add the figures up in front of you.
How pickup and send-in come together on a T14
Inside Vienna our courier collects the machine from your flat or your office and brings it back repaired, both journeys inside the zone price from €14.90. From any Austrian province the postal route works and the insured return shipping is already part of the price. Or you book a fixed slot and hand it over in the 22nd district. We keep no open counter, so every handover is arranged in advance and the machine goes straight to the bench.
The practical pages: pickup and delivery, the send-in service and the repair process from call to invoice. Prices for every Lenovo line sit on the Lenovo repair hub, and the repair types have their own pages for screens and batteries.
ThinkPad T14 repair in Vienna: your questions
What does a ThinkPad T14 screen repair cost in Vienna?
From €149 for the complete panel, including the labour and six months of warranty. A matte office panel is the cheapest case; a touch version or a higher-resolution panel from a better-specified T14 sits above it. Tell us what you see, cracks, lines, blotches or a dead backlight, and read out the machine type from the sticker. The binding figure follows the 25 EUR check, which is waived on repair.
What should I expect to pay for a ThinkPad T14 battery?
From €149, covering the cell, the fitting, a calibration cycle, disposal of the old pack and six months of warranty. The T14 is one of the friendlier machines here because the cell is screwed in rather than glued into a pocket, so the bench time is short. Around fifty watt-hours go back in, and after the swap we show you the measured capacity and the cycle count.
Does a T14 keyboard replacement include the TrackPoint?
Yes, because the red TrackPoint is part of the keyboard unit rather than a separate component. Whether single keys bounce, a whole row has gone silent or the pointer no longer moves, we renew the complete deck from €99. ThinkPad keyboards are built to be serviced and usually come out cleanly. If liquid reached the deck we check the board underneath as well, since a fresh deck over a corroded board fails twice.
My ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 will not start. What do you check first?
The charging path, before anything else. We measure your adapter under load, test both USB-C ports separately and look at the charge light beside the socket, because a dark light means no power is arriving at all. Then comes the cell, which can be flat enough to refuse a boot while still blinking. Only after those two do we go to the mainboard, and the 25 EUR check separates the three.
The battery has bowed the bottom cover of my T14. Is that dangerous?
It needs acting on rather than panicking about. An ageing cell produces gas and expands, and the pressure pushes the cover outward, which is why the machine rocks and the touchpad only clicks at its edge. Please take it off the charger and stop carrying it compressed inside a full bag. A swollen pack is removed rather than watched, and it should not travel by post, so ring us and we arrange collection.
Coffee ran over the keyboard of my ThinkPad T14. What now?
Switch it off immediately, unplug the charger and leave it off. Do not press the power button to test it, because every attempt drives current through a wet board. Stand it upside down over a towel so liquid runs out instead of down into the board. Skip the rice and the hairdryer. Then bring it in quickly: sugar and acid keep eating the traces daily, and an early clean starts at €99.
Which ThinkPad T14 generations do you repair?
All of them, from the first generation of 2020 through to the fifth of 2024, in both the Intel and the AMD variants, and the thinner T14s alongside them. The predecessors T470, T480, T480s and T490 are equally welcome. What we need from you is the four-character machine type from the sticker on the underside, because the generation decides the panel connector and the battery shape.
Do parts from a T480 or T490 fit a T14?
Some accessories carry over, but the parts that matter do not. The panel connector, the battery shape and the keyboard mounting all changed across the T14 generations, so a part that physically fits is not automatically the right one. We order against your machine type rather than against the model name, which is why we ask for the four-character code instead of the year you bought it.
What warranty do you give on a ThinkPad T14 repair?
Six months on the fitted part and on the labour, valid across Austria including machines that reached us by post. If the same fault returns inside that window without a new fall or a fresh spill, we put it right at no cost to you. Fresh damage afterwards is not covered, as everywhere. Your remaining Lenovo warranty on the other components is unaffected by work we carry out.
What does the 25 EUR diagnostic check on a T14 actually cover?
We measure rather than guess: the adapter under load, both charging ports, the cell capacity and cycle count, the panel against an external monitor, and the temperatures under load if the fan is the complaint. You then get one binding figure before anything is opened further. The 25 EUR comes off the invoice as soon as you approve a repair. With liquid damage the diagnosis is 49 EUR.
Do you fit original Lenovo parts in a ThinkPad T14?
We fit parts built to Lenovo factory specification for your exact machine type, matching resolution, capacity, connector and keyboard layout. Genuine parts from Lenovo's own service channel go to authorised partners, and we state that plainly instead of claiming an origin we do not have. Nameless components without a datasheet never go into a customer machine, and we tell you the source on request before you agree.
Does my data and the company configuration survive a T14 repair?
Yes. For screen, battery, keyboard, touchpad and charging socket work the drive is never removed, so your files, your domain login and your company configuration stay exactly as they are. Nothing is reimaged and no setting is reset. A current backup is still sensible before hardware work. Only with severe board damage or liquid inside can nobody promise a clean outcome in advance.
How does your pickup service for a ThinkPad T14 in Vienna work?
You book a slot, our driver collects the machine from your flat or your office reception, and the same driver brings it back after the repair. The zone price is €14.90, €17.90 or €18.90 depending on the district and already covers both journeys. If nobody can be present, name a colleague or the reception desk. Please send the charger along, since testing your adapter is one of our first measurements.
How do I send a ThinkPad T14 in from another province?
From anywhere in Austria, with insured return shipping already inside the price. Shut it down, wrap it in bubble wrap and use a firm box with five centimetres of padding on every side. Add a note with your name, number, the machine type from the sticker and what the fault looks like, and include the charger if the machine will not start. We ring you with the price before any work.
Can I hand my ThinkPad T14 over in person?
Yes, at a slot you book in advance, in the 22nd district. There is no shop counter with opening hours to walk into, because working by appointment is what guarantees somebody is there and your machine goes onto the bench immediately. The address comes with your confirmation. Coming in person is optional: the courier inside Vienna and the post from anywhere reach the same workshop and the same prices.
