Laptop Battery Replacement Vienna
Your notebook used to last a working day and now it hunts for a socket after ninety minutes. Or it shuts down at forty per cent without a warning, or the case has started to rock on the desk. We fit a fresh cell into Windows notebooks from €149 and into a MacBook from €179, calibrate it and hand the machine back with a 6-month warranty. Diagnostic check 25 EUR, waived on repair.
The signs that the cell, not the software, is tired
A battery rarely dies in one step. It announces itself, and each of these patterns points somewhere slightly different — which is why we ask what exactly the machine does before quoting.
A bulging case belongs in the urgent column rather than the annoying one. Take it off the charger, keep it out of a tightly packed bag and book a slot or ring us the same day.

Battery prices by laptop brand
Windows notebooks start at €149 whatever the badge says. What differs is how the cell is mounted: screwed into a bay, or glued into the base with pull tabs. That decides the bench time, not the price you are quoted.
* Diagnostic check 25 EUR — it comes off the invoice as soon as you approve the battery swap.

What a laptop battery replacement costs in Vienna
A new battery for a Windows notebook starts at €149 in Vienna, covering the cell, the fitting, a calibration cycle, disposal of the old pack and six months of warranty. A MacBook is a fixed €179, or €219 for the M4 models. The diagnostic check costs 25 EUR and disappears from the invoice the moment you approve the work, so finding out what is actually wrong never costs you separately.
Battery prices move less between brands than screen prices do, because a cell is a cell: the difference is capacity and how it is held in place. A business notebook carries roughly 45 to 57 watt-hours, a gaming machine 80 to 90, and the largest MacBook Pro about 100. What changes the bench time is the mounting. Screwed into a bay takes twenty minutes; glued into the base with pull strips takes an afternoon, because each strip is released slowly instead of levering the pack out.
Plugged in, not charging: the three things it can be
That message is the most common reason a laptop reaches us, and the battery is only one of three candidates. First the power supply: an adapter with no output, a cable broken inside its sleeve, a socket that only works at one angle. Second the cell itself, worn out or deeply discharged to the point where the charging circuit refuses to start. Third the charging electronics on the mainboard. Swap the adapter and try the other port before anything else, because that costs nothing and rules out the cheapest fault.
A bulging case is not cosmetic, it is a deadline
When a cell ages it produces gas and expands. Glued flat into the base, it has nowhere to go and pushes the housing outward. You notice it as a laptop that rocks instead of sitting flat, a touchpad that only clicks at the edge, or a lid that no longer closes evenly. At that point please stop charging it, stop carrying it pressed inside a full backpack, and call us. A swollen pack is removed, not observed, and it does not belong in a postal parcel either.
How many cycles a laptop battery is built for
Most Windows notebooks are specified for around 500 full charge cycles before the usable capacity drops to about 80 per cent, and Apple quotes roughly 1,000 for its machines. Someone who charges daily reaches the Windows figure in two to three years. You can read your own numbers: on Windows, run the command powercfg /batteryreport and open the file it writes, which prints design capacity against current capacity. On a macOS machine the cycle count sits in the system information under Power.
Heat ages a battery faster than use does
A cell kept warm loses capacity whether you use it or not, which is why gaming laptops and dust-clogged machines wear out packs early. If your notebook runs hot and loud, a fan clean from €59 does more for the next battery than careful charging habits will. The other useful habit is avoiding a permanent 100 per cent: most manufacturers now offer a charge limit around 80 per cent in their own software, and on a machine that lives on a desk it is worth switching on.
Is a new cell worth it on an older laptop?
Almost always, and more clearly than any other repair. A €149 battery in a three-year-old notebook worth €500 used buys two to three more years, and you keep every programme, licence and password exactly where it is. The weekend a new machine costs you in migration has a real price too. Where we say no is a very cheap old laptop that also needs a screen: then we add the figures up in front of you instead of quietly selling both jobs.
Three ways your laptop reaches our bench
Within Vienna our driver collects the notebook from home or from the office and returns it after the swap, both trips covered by the zone price from €14.90. From every Austrian province you can send it by post with insured return shipping included in the price. Or you choose a fixed slot and hand it over in the 22nd district. There is no open counter to walk into, so each handover is arranged beforehand and nobody stands in a queue.
More detail on the routes: pickup and delivery, the send-in service and the repair process step by step. If the machine only charges at one particular angle, start at charging port repair; if the picture is the problem, go to laptop screen repair.
New laptop battery in Vienna: what customers ask us first
What does a new laptop battery cost in Vienna?
From €149 for a Windows notebook, and that figure includes the cell, the fitting, a calibration cycle, disposal of the old pack and six months of warranty. Capacity and mounting decide the bench time rather than the price you pay. A MacBook runs at a fixed €179. You hear one binding number after the diagnostic check, which costs 25 EUR and is waived once you approve the work.
Is a MacBook battery priced differently from a Windows notebook cell?
Yes, a MacBook has its own fixed figure of €179, rising to €219 for the M4 machines whose cells are still young and expensive to source. The reason is the work as much as the part: several narrow cells are glued into the base and each one is released over its pull strips instead of being levered out. A Windows notebook starts at €149 because most packs unclip or unscrew.
What warranty do I get on a new laptop battery?
Six months on the cell and on the fitting, valid anywhere in Austria including machines that came to us by post. If the capacity collapses in that window, or the system starts reporting a battery fault again, we replace it at no cost to you. What is not covered is a fall, a spill or someone else opening the machine afterwards. Ring us before you unscrew anything yourself.
What does the diagnostic check cost if the cell turns out to be healthy?
The check is 25 EUR and it vanishes from the invoice as soon as you approve any repair with us. Roughly one machine in five arrives suspected of a dead battery and leaves with a different diagnosis, usually the charging socket or the power adapter. In that case you get a separate price for the real fault before anything is touched. Where liquid was involved the diagnosis is 49 EUR.
My laptop says plugged in, not charging. Is the battery finished?
Not necessarily, and two cheaper causes come first. Try a second adapter and the other charging port, and look at the small light beside the socket: dark usually means no power is arriving at all. If the light works but the level never rises, the cell or the charging circuit on the board is the candidate. We measure current draw rather than guess, because the three faults look identical from the outside.
The underside is bulging and the case no longer sits flat. What now?
Take it off the charger today and stop carrying it pressed inside a full bag. A cell that has produced gas is expanding against a glued pocket and pushing the housing outward, which is why the machine rocks and the touchpad only clicks at the edge. A swollen pack gets removed rather than watched, and it should not travel by post. Ring us and we arrange a collection instead.
How many charge cycles should a laptop battery survive?
Most Windows notebooks are rated for about 500 full cycles before usable capacity falls to roughly 80 per cent, while Apple quotes around 1,000 for its own machines. Charging daily puts a Windows laptop at that mark in two to three years. You can check yours: run powercfg /batteryreport on Windows and compare design capacity with the current figure, or read the cycle count in the macOS system information.
Do you fit original cells or compatible ones?
We fit tested cells at the full rated capacity for your exact model number, never packs harvested from scrap machines. Genuine parts from the manufacturer's own channel go to authorised service partners, and we say so plainly rather than claiming an origin we do not have. Nameless cells with no capacity data never go into a customer machine. After fitting we show you the measured capacity so you can read the quality instead of trusting it.
Is the new battery calibrated before I get the laptop back?
Yes, and that step is the reason a swap takes longer than the screwdriver work suggests. After fitting, the machine runs one full charge and one controlled discharge so the firmware learns the real capacity of the new pack. Without it the percentage display lies for the first few weeks and jumps in large steps. We also show you the reported capacity and cycle count before the laptop leaves.
How long does a laptop battery replacement take?
The fitting itself ranges from twenty minutes on a business notebook with a screwed-in pack to an afternoon on a thin machine where the cell is glued down and released strip by strip. A Surface takes longest because the display has to be heated out first. Add the calibration cycle and most machines are ready the next working day, provided the pack for your model is on the shelf.
Does replacing the battery wipe my drive?
No. The storage drive is never removed during a battery swap, nothing is reinstalled and no setting is reset, so your files, programmes and saved logins are exactly where you left them. A current backup is still sensible before any hardware work, simply because drives fail without warning. The one exception is a machine with liquid damage or board corrosion, where nobody can promise a clean outcome in advance.
Liquid reached the battery bay. Is the cell automatically scrap?
Not automatically, but it has to be checked before anything is charged again. Liquid runs down from the keyboard and collects exactly where the pack and its connector sit, and corrosion on those contacts is the usual result. Switch the machine off, leave the charger out and bring it in quickly. Board cleaning starts at €99, the liquid diagnosis is 49 EUR, and rice and hairdryers help with neither.
Do you pick the laptop up in Vienna for a battery swap?
Yes, anywhere in the city. The driver collects it from your flat, your shared apartment or an office reception and brings it back after the swap. The zone price is €14.90, €17.90 or €18.90 depending on the district and already contains the return trip. Because the calibration cycle needs time, plan on having the machine back the next working day rather than within hours.
Can I post a laptop in for a new battery from another province?
Yes, from all of Austria, with insured return shipping already inside the price. Shut the machine down, wrap it well, use a firm box with generous padding and add a note with your name, number and the runtime you currently get. Include the charger if the machine will not start. One exception: a visibly swollen pack does not belong in the post, so ring us and we organise a collection.
Can I bring the laptop to you for the battery change instead?
Yes, at a slot you book in advance, in the 22nd district. We keep no walk-in counter with opening hours, because working by appointment means somebody is actually there and your machine goes onto the bench immediately. The address comes with your confirmation. Coming in person is never necessary though: the courier and the postal route reach the same workshop and the same prices.
From symptom to price: what each battery complaint usually means
| What the laptop does | Most likely cause | Our step | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Runtime under two hours | Capacity worn down past 60 per cent | New cell fitted and calibrated | from €149, MacBook €179 |
| Shuts down at forty per cent | Cell collapses under load before the gauge notices | Capacity measured, then the pack renewed | from €149 |
| Plugged in, not charging | Adapter, charging socket or the charging circuit | Adapter and both ports tested first | 25 EUR check, port from €89 |
| Case rocks, touchpad stiff | Swollen pack pressing the housing outward | Same-week removal, no postal transport | from €149 |
| Dies the instant you unplug | Pack no longer holds any charge at all | New cell plus a check of the charging path | from €149 |
| Hot underside, loud fan, short runtime | Heat from a clogged cooler ageing the cell | Fan clean in the same visit as the swap | cleaning from €59 plus the cell |
The model name is on the sticker underneath the machine, and on a MacBook it is the small A-number beside the text. Read it out on the phone and we can confirm the right pack straight away.
