Selling a broken Xbox Series X
No picture over HDMI, a drive that no longer pulls in discs, or a Series X that shuts down under load: as long as nobody has opened the console, we pay from 70 €. We find and fix the fault in our Vienna workshop ourselves.
How to sell the Series X by post
In the calculator you state how the Series X starts, what it looks like, whether drive, HDMI and Wi-Fi work and whether the controller is included. Once you agree, we email an insured label and you pay no postage. After the inspection in Vienna we pay by bank transfer or PayPal around 48 hours later. The details are in our trade-in terms.
Resetting and signing out of the Xbox Series X
Your saves are stored in the Microsoft cloud, so you keep them. If you set the Series X as your home Xbox, remove that under Settings › General › Personalisation › My home Xbox. Then choose Settings › System › Console info › Reset console and select “Reset and remove everything”.

How much more does the Series X bring than the Series S?
250 € like new compared with 130 € for the Xbox Series S, almost twice as much. The Series X has a disc drive, more power for 4K and 1 TB of storage.
What do I get for a Series X with a broken HDMI port?
From 70 €, if the console was never opened. Without a picture the Series X cannot be resold, but we replace the port ourselves. Try another HDMI cable first.
Do you buy an Xbox Series X whose drive no longer reads discs?
Yes. State it in the calculator to see the adjusted value. With a loud or sticking drive the Series X is at 150 €, if everything else works.
How much do scratches lower the price of the Series X?
The matte surface of the Series X forgives a lot. Light marks keep it at 205 €, clear scratches or dents put it at 150 €. Dust in the fan grille on top is not a flaw.
What do you pay for a Series X that keeps shutting down?
If the Series X shuts down under load, it is often dust or cooling that has worn out. Select overheating in the calculator; unopened, we still buy it from 70 €.
Do I need the wireless controller to sell my Series X?
No, but without a controller the calculator deducts a noticeable amount. A second working controller adds a bonus, stick drift costs only a little.
Do I get more for the Xbox Series X in its original box?
A little: box and original cables add a small bonus in the calculator. It is not required; the Series X just needs to travel well padded.
Can I send the Series X for free from Graz or Innsbruck?
Yes, the insured label is free throughout Austria. You drop the Series X at the post office, and the price is the same as in Vienna.
What does it cost if I want the Series X back after the inspection?
If you decline our inspected offer, we charge 10 € for return shipping. If the price differs from the estimate, we explain why beforehand.
How do I reset the Xbox Series X before selling it?
Under Settings › System › Console info › Reset console, choose “Reset and remove everything”. Remove the home Xbox setting first. We cannot buy the console with a Microsoft account still signed in.
When does the money for the Series X arrive?
Around 48 hours after the inspection by bank transfer or PayPal. We do not pay cash, so every purchase is documented.
Where can I trade in an Xbox Series X in Austria?
MediaMarkt buys game consoles but, according to its trade-in page, pays only as a gift card. GameStop closed its Austrian stores in early 2023, according to press reports. With us you get money for the Series X by bank transfer or PayPal.
What is a used Xbox Series X resale value compared with a private sale?
Privately you may get a little more, but you deal with messages, viewings and the risk of fake payments. With us the price is fixed after inspection, up to 250 € like new, and a faulty Series X is bought too.
Do you buy Xbox games or Game Pass credit as well?
No, we only buy the Xbox Series X with controller and cables. Games, gift cards, headsets and charging stations are not part of the trade-in.
