MacBook Pro Repair Vienna
13-inch Intel, the compact M1 machine or a 14- and 16-inch model with mini-LED. Battery €179 (M4: €219), screen €499 and €599 from model year 2023, keyboard unit €249, charging port €189, fan cleaning from €79. Diagnostic check €25, waived on repair. 6-month warranty.
Which MacBook Pro do you have?
There are worlds between a 2017 13-inch Pro and a current 16-inch machine: different screen, different battery, different keyboard. The model number on the underside settles it.
What MacBook Pro owners come to us with
Battery replacement – €179
Runtime halved, the machine cutting out at 40 percent, or the case rocking on the desk because the bottom is bulging. Several glued cells sit side by side in the base; we release them individually and calibrate the new pack. €179, or €219 on the M4 years.
Fan cleaning – from €79
The Pro spins up during video playback, gets hot underneath and drops performance mid-export. After a few years the fins and fan wheels are packed with dust and hair. We clean both thoroughly and renew the thermal paste on the processor.
Screen replacement – from €499
Cracks in the panel, a bright bar along the bottom edge, or a picture only visible with a torch. The complete display assembly is replaced. On the 14 and 16 inch that is a mini-LED panel that has to deliver colour accuracy for photo and video work.
Keyboard repair – €249
The 2016 to 2019 models carry the flat butterfly mechanism, which objects to a single crumb: keys double, stick or go silent. From 2020 the sturdier scissor mechanism is back. We clean first and replace the unit only when cleaning does not hold.
Not charging – €189
No charging light on MagSafe, power only in one plug position, or the Pro draws from the adapter without charging. Beyond cable and port, the charging circuit and a deeply discharged battery are candidates here. The diagnostic check narrows it down first.
Liquid in the device – from €89
On the Pro a spilled glass hits the keyboard and speaker grilles first and runs from there onto the logic board. Switch off immediately, unplug, do not switch on again. We disassemble, clean the board and stop the corrosion.
Also available: trackpad from €79 and data recovery for machines that no longer start. On the Intel Pros the storage can often be read out; on Apple Silicon it is tied to the board — we tell you honestly what applies in your case.
On these machines repair almost always pays off
A MacBook Pro is rarely a second device. Contracts, edits, client data, often an entire freelance business depend on it. And it is expensive: a 14- or 16-inch machine costs several times what a repair does. That is exactly why looking at the individual component beats writing the device off. The processing power of a 2021 Pro is good for years — provided battery, screen and cooling play along.
What a MacBook Pro repair costs
Battery €179, or €219 on the M4 years. Screen €499, or €599 from model year 2023 with the mini-LED panel. Keyboard unit €249, charging port €189, fan cleaning from €79, trackpad from €79. Liquid damage is €49 for the cleaning plus a repair from €89. All fixed prices including part, fitting and 6-month warranty; the €25 diagnostic check is waived on repair.
Why the Pro gets loud
Nearly every Pro has fans, and fans pull in air along with dust, pet hair and whatever else is on the sofa. After three or four years the heatsink fins are blocked. The machine then runs its fans constantly, gets hot underneath and throttles to protect itself. That is maintenance, not a defect: open the case, clean fan wheels and heatsink, renew the thermal paste. Afterwards the Pro is quiet again — and noticeably faster if it had been throttling.
Colour accuracy is not a detail here
On a machine used to develop photos or grade video, the quality of the replacement panel decides the quality of the work. A display with a shifted white point shows up immediately and makes every colour correction worthless. So before a screen replacement we discuss which panel variants exist for your model and how they differ in brightness and gamut. After fitting we check the brightness gradient and colour rendering before the machine goes back.

Frequently asked questions about MacBook Pro repair
What does a MacBook Pro battery replacement cost?
€179 for most generations, €219 for the M4 models, whose cell is a more expensive spare part. On the 16-inch Pro the pack holds 100 Wh across six glued cells, which is why the job takes longer than on an Air even though the price is the same.
How much is a screen for the MacBook Pro 14 or 16?
€499 for the generations up to 2022 and €599 from model year 2023, when the Liquid Retina XDR panels changed part number. Tell us the year and we can name the figure on the phone before you hand anything over.
The bottom of my screen shows a bright band — is that the well-known cable fault?
On the 13-inch and 15-inch Intel models, very likely. Apple redesigned the display cable on the 16-inch, so the stage-light effect is much rarer there. Either way the fix is the same: the display assembly is replaced as one unit, because the cable is not sold separately.
Does the Touch Bar still work after a screen replacement?
Yes. The Touch Bar sits in the top case, not in the lid, so a display job does not touch it. If your Touch Bar is the actual problem — dead zones, no backlight — that is a separate repair and we quote it separately after the check.
My Pro is loud and slows down under load. Is that the fan?
Usually dust in the cooling fins plus dried-out thermal paste. The machine then throttles to protect itself, which feels like a sudden loss of speed during exports or renders. A clean and repaste starts at €79 and often buys back more performance than any software tweak.
Can you upgrade the SSD in a MacBook Pro?
Not on Apple Silicon models — the storage is soldered to the board and cannot be swapped, whatever some listings claim. On older Intel Pros with a removable module it is sometimes possible, and we tell you honestly which case yours is before you order anything.
Are my files safe during the repair?
Yes. We work on the hardware only; the storage stays where it is and nothing is reinstalled. You will not need to give us your password either, because the login screen is enough for the function test. The exception is liquid damage, where the board itself may be affected. In that case we talk to you about data recovery before anything is opened.
How long will I be without my Pro?
One working day for most jobs once the part is here. A 16-inch battery takes longer than an Air battery because six glued cells have to come out individually and the adhesive residue has to be removed completely before the new pack goes in.
Which MacBook Pro models do you handle?
The 13-inch Intel A1989, A2159, A2251 and A2289, the 15-inch A1707 and A1990, the 16-inch Intel A2141, the 13-inch M1 and M2 A2338, and the 14- and 16-inch Apple Silicon models from 2021 to the current M4 generation. If your A-number is not on that list, ask anyway — parts for older Intel machines are usually still available, sourcing them simply takes a day or two longer.
Do you fit original displays?
We fit assemblies that match the factory specification of your generation — same resolution, same brightness behaviour, same colour calibration. On an XDR panel that matters more than on any other MacBook, which is why we do not touch cheaper alternatives.
Is the diagnostic fee deducted from the repair?
Yes, in full. The check costs €25 and vanishes from the invoice once you approve the work. Decline after the result and the €25 is the only thing you pay — no hidden handling fee on top. What you get for the money is a written finding: which part failed, what the fixed price is and how long the machine will be away. That is yours to keep either way.
Do you collect in Vienna?
Yes, a courier picks the Pro up at your address and brings it back. Depending on the district the round trip is €14.90, €17.90 or €18.90. For heavier 16-inch machines that saves you carrying it across town. The courier brings padding, so you do not need a box of your own; just shut the machine down and have the charger ready to travel with it.
Can I send my Pro from another part of Austria?
Yes, and we pay the insured return leg. Shut the machine down, wrap it well, use a firm box with at least five centimetres of padding all round and add a note with your details and the symptom. Do not tape anything to the lid or the ports. Adhesive residue on an aluminium case is harder to remove than most people expect, and on a screen it is worse.
Is dropping it off in person possible?
Yes, once you have booked a slot. We deliberately run no open counter, so handovers happen in the 22nd district at fixed times. You get the address with the confirmation email. Plan for five minutes on site. We check the serial number and the visible damage with you present, so there is no argument later about the state it arrived in.
Coffee went into the keyboard — how bad is that?
Potentially worse than it looks on day one. Liquid runs past the key openings onto the board, and sugar keeps corroding for days after the spill. Switch the Pro off, leave it off, do not charge it and bring it in. Cleaning is €49, any repair that follows starts at €89.
