HP EliteBook Repair Vienna

An EliteBook rarely arrives here because it was dropped. It arrives because five years of docking stations, borrowed power supplies and hotel desks have worn something out: a socket with play in it, a cell down to an hour, a deck where three keys no longer answer. Panel and battery from €149, keyboard from €99, charging socket from €89. English service, 6-month warranty, diagnostic check 25 EUR waived on repair.

Which EliteBook generation is on your desk?

HP names these machines by a model number and a G number. The number in front tells you the size class, the G tells you the year, and together they decide the part. Both are printed on the sticker underneath.

EliteBook 840 G1 and G2 EliteBook 840 G3 and 850 G3 EliteBook 840 G4 and 850 G4 EliteBook 840 G5 and 850 G5 EliteBook 840 G6 and 850 G6 EliteBook 840 G7 and 850 G7 EliteBook 840 G8 and 850 G8 EliteBook 840 G9 and G10 EliteBook 820 and 830 EliteBook x360 convertibles EliteBook Folio Privacy screen versions

The number before the G is the size class, so an 840 is a 14-inch machine and an 850 a 15-inch one. Read both out on the phone and we can confirm the panel or the cell immediately. Book a slot afterwards.

Which EliteBook repair do you need?

Pick what the machine actually does. On a business notebook the faults are rarely dramatic and almost always singular, which is why a five-year-old EliteBook usually needs one part rather than a replacement.

* Diagnostic check 25 EUR, waived as soon as you approve the work. Where liquid has been in the machine the diagnosis is 49 EUR.

Why a business machine is worth repairing

  • EliteBook decks and cells are serviceable, so the bench time stays short
  • Pickup in Vienna from €14.90 including the return trip, or insured post from any province
  • Your domain login, your software and your company configuration stay as they are
  • 6-month warranty on the part and on the labour, across all of Austria

What an HP EliteBook repair costs in Vienna

An HP EliteBook repair starts at €89 for the charging socket, €89 for the touchpad, €99 for the keyboard deck, €149 for the panel and €149 for the battery, with a cooling service from €59 and an SSD or memory upgrade from €169. The model number and the G number decide where inside the bands your machine lands, because an 850 panel is larger than an 840 one. The 25 EUR diagnostic check is waived on repair.

EliteBooks are built to be opened, and that shows in the bill. On most generations the bottom cover comes off with screws, the cell is bolted rather than glued, and the keyboard deck lifts out from above after a handful of fasteners and one ribbon cable. A machine that reaches the part in ten minutes costs less to repair than one where the mainboard has to come out first, and you see that in the quote rather than in our margin.

Changing adapters, changing docks: what an EliteBook pays for first

These machines rarely stay in one place. They get plugged into a dock at the office, a borrowed adapter in a meeting room and a hotel socket in the evening, which adds up to far more plug cycles than a laptop that lives on one desk. The contact surfaces wear, and the complaint arrives as charging that only works at one particular angle or stops when somebody bumps the table. That is a €89 job if it is dealt with before the contact starts heating.

Typical damage patterns on an EliteBook

Three arrive over and over. A cell that has spent its life at full charge on a dock and now manages an hour, often with the system already reporting it. A keyboard where individual keys need two presses after years of email, or where a drink went through the deck. And a cooling system packed with a felt of dust, which shows up as a fan running constantly while the machine throttles itself during a video call.

The pointer does not move: on an EliteBook that is often the lock

Before you book a touchpad repair, check one thing. HP puts a lock function on the touchpad of these machines, usually a small area or an indicator at the top left corner of the pad that you double-tap to switch it off. A locked pad behaves exactly like a broken one: the pointer sits still and nothing responds. It costs nothing to rule out, and it saves people a repair appointment more often than any other single tip on this page.

The fan runs constantly although nothing is running

After three or four years on a desk, the fins behind the fan are packed with a felt of dust you cannot see from outside. The heat has nowhere to go, the machine throttles to protect itself, and the fan runs flat out to compensate. We take the cooling apart, clean the fins, renew the thermal paste and measure the temperature under load before and after. From €59, and it is the cheapest performance improvement an older EliteBook ever gets.

What else can be replaced individually on an EliteBook

More than people expect, and that is the reason these machines age well. The drive, the memory, the cooling assembly, the touchpad, the speaker, the wireless card and the display cable are all separate parts on most generations. An SSD or memory upgrade from €169 often does more for how the machine feels than any other single change, because a business notebook that boots quickly stops feeling old even when it is five years into service.

Repair or replace an EliteBook?

Business hardware holds its value on the used market better than consumer laptops, and a working EliteBook with a fresh cell is a usable machine for years. Against a replacement in the high hundreds, €149 for a battery or €99 for a deck settles it, and your login, your software and your company configuration stay exactly as they are. Where we advise caution is an old 840 G3 needing panel, deck and cooling at once. Then we add the numbers up in front of you.

How pickup and send-in fit together on an EliteBook

Inside Vienna our courier collects the machine from your flat or your office reception and brings it back repaired, both journeys inside the zone price from €14.90. From any Austrian province the postal route works with insured return shipping already in the price. Or you take a fixed slot and hand it over in the 22nd district. We keep no open counter, so every handover is arranged in advance and the machine goes straight to the bench.

The practical pages: pickup and delivery, the send-in service and the repair process from call to invoice. Every HP line sits on the HP repair hub, and the repair types have their own pages for keyboards and batteries.

HP EliteBook repair in Vienna: what customers ask

What does an HP EliteBook screen replacement cost in Vienna?

From €149 for the panel, the labour and six months of warranty. An 840 is a 14-inch machine and an 850 a 15-inch one, so the part differs and so does the position inside the band. Tell us both numbers from the sticker and describe what you see. The binding figure follows the 25 EUR diagnostic check, which comes off the invoice as soon as you approve the work.

What does a new battery for an EliteBook 840 or 850 cost?

From €149, covering the cell, the fitting, a calibration cycle, disposal of the old pack and six months of warranty. These machines are among the friendlier ones on the bench because the cell is bolted rather than glued into a pocket. After fitting we show you the measured capacity and the cycle count, so what the new pack reports is something you can read instead of trust.

My EliteBook touchpad does not react at all. Is it broken?

Check the lock first, because it costs nothing. HP puts a touchpad lock on these machines, normally a small area or indicator at the top left corner of the pad that you double-tap to toggle. A locked pad looks exactly like a dead one. If the pointer still refuses after that, the module or its ribbon cable is the candidate and a touchpad starts at €89.

Which EliteBook generations do you repair?

All of them, from the 840 G1 and G2 of 2013 through every G number to the current 840 G10, in both the 14-inch and 15-inch classes. The 820 and 830 models, the x360 convertibles and the Folio machines are equally welcome. What we need is the model number and the G number from the sticker underneath, because those two together identify the part.

My EliteBook screen looks dim from the side. Is the panel failing?

Probably not. Many EliteBooks are ordered with a privacy screen, which deliberately narrows the viewing angle so that the person beside you on a train sees nothing. From the front it looks normal, from an angle it goes dark, and that is the feature working. There is usually a function key to switch it off. If the picture is dim head-on as well, then the backlight is the real issue.

Coffee went through the deck of my EliteBook. What should I do?

Switch it off immediately, unplug the charger and leave it off. Do not press the power button to check whether it survived, because every attempt drives current through a wet board. Stand it upside down over a towel so liquid runs out instead of further in. Skip rice and hairdryers. Then get it to us quickly, because sugar and acid keep eating traces daily. Cleaning starts at €99.

Does the fan noise on my EliteBook mean the fan is broken?

Usually not. After three or four years the fins behind it are packed with dust, so the heat cannot escape, the machine throttles and the fan runs flat out trying to compensate. We take the cooling apart, clean the fins, renew the thermal paste and measure the temperature under load before and after. From €59, and on an older business machine it is the cheapest performance gain available.

What warranty do I get on an HP EliteBook repair?

Six months on the fitted part and on the labour, valid across Austria including machines that reached us by post. If the same fault returns inside that window without a new fall or a fresh spill, we put it right at no cost to you. Fresh damage afterwards is not covered, as everywhere. Any remaining HP warranty on the other components is unaffected by the work we carry out.

What does the 25 EUR diagnostic check on an EliteBook include?

We measure instead of guessing: your adapter under load, the charging socket or both USB-C ports, the cell capacity and cycle count, the panel against an external monitor, and the temperatures under load when heat is the complaint. Then you get one binding figure before anything is opened further. The 25 EUR disappears from the invoice on repair. With liquid damage the diagnosis is 49 EUR.

Do you fit original HP parts in an EliteBook?

We fit parts built to HP specification for your exact model and G number, matching resolution, capacity, connector and keyboard layout. Genuine parts from HP's own service channel go to authorised partners, and we state that openly instead of claiming an origin we do not have. Components without a datasheet never go into a customer machine, and we name the source on request before you agree.

Will my company configuration survive an EliteBook repair?

Yes. For panel, battery, keyboard, touchpad and charging socket work the drive stays in the machine, nothing is reimaged and no policy or setting is reset, so your domain login and your managed software are untouched. We recommend a current backup before any hardware work as a matter of routine. Only with severe board damage or liquid inside can nobody promise an outcome in advance.

Can you upgrade the drive or the memory in an EliteBook at the same time?

Yes, and on a machine that is four or five years old it is often the change you notice most. Drive and memory are separate parts on most EliteBook generations, so the work happens in the same opening as your repair rather than as a second visit. An SSD or memory upgrade starts at €169, and we clone your existing installation across rather than reinstalling from scratch.

Do you collect an EliteBook from an office in Vienna?

Yes, and reception hand-overs are the normal case for us. The zone price is €14.90, €17.90 or €18.90 depending on the district and already includes the return trip after the repair. Name the person or the desk where the machine will be waiting. Please send the adapter along, because measuring your own power supply under load is one of the first checks on any charging complaint.

Can I send an EliteBook in from another province?

Yes, from all of Austria, with insured return shipping already inside the price. Shut it down, wrap it in bubble wrap and use a firm box with five centimetres of padding on every side. Add a note with your name, number, the model and G number, and what the machine does. Include the adapter if it will not start. We ring you with the price before any work.

Can I hand an EliteBook over in person in Vienna?

Yes, at a slot you book in advance, in the 22nd district. There is no walk-in counter with opening hours, because working by appointment is what guarantees somebody is there and the machine goes onto the bench straight away. The exact address comes with your confirmation. It is optional: the courier inside Vienna and the post from anywhere reach the same workshop at the same prices.
