These figures apply to AirPods that look like new, with both earbuds and the charging case. With light wear we pay around 82 percent of that, with visible scratches on the case around 62 percent, faulty and never opened around 30 percent. Used AirPods Pro 2 therefore sit between 60 € and 45 €, AirPods 4 between 45 € and 35 €. The AirPods Max with USB-C bring 50 € more than the Lightning version.
Selling broken AirPods: what works and what does not
If an earbud crackles, the battery only lasts half an hour or the case no longer charges, we buy the AirPods as faulty, at around 30 percent of the like-new price, so from 35 € for AirPods Pro 3. If the charging case is missing, we pay at most that faulty price. We do not buy single earbuds or a case on its own, because they cannot be turned into a complete set again.
What the price of your AirPods depends on
With AirPods the battery matters most. Each earbud has a small cell that fades noticeably after two or three years of daily use, and it cannot be replaced. Next we look at the case: scratches, dents in the lid, a loose hinge. Finally we test sound, microphones and noise cancellation. Accessories like cable or box add nothing, but both earbuds and the case are required.
Hygiene matters to buyers of earbuds. Clean your AirPods with a dry, soft cloth before sending them and brush the mesh carefully with a soft brush. You can take off the silicone ear tips of the Pro models and rinse them with clean water. On the AirPods Max we look at the ear cushions, which wear over time.
Apple Trade In or selling your AirPods to Reparo?
On its Austrian trade-in page Apple lists iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch as trade-in devices; AirPods are not named there as a category of their own. Anything without trade-in value Apple recycles for free, accessories included. For most owners, Apple Trade In is therefore not a source of money for AirPods. With us you get a fixed amount for working AirPods by PayPal or bank transfer, around 48 hours after the inspection.

Selling old, used or new AirPods
For old first-generation AirPods we have no price list; after so many years their battery is almost always worn out, and any Vienna recycling centre (Mistplatz) takes them free as electronic waste. Used AirPods from the second generation onwards we value by condition and battery. New, still sealed AirPods, such as a duplicate gift, we buy at the like-new price.

Unpair and reset your AirPods before selling
Open the Find My app on your iPhone, choose your AirPods under Devices and tap Remove This Device. Then reset them: earbuds in the case, lid closed for 30 seconds, then open and, on models with a button, hold the setup button on the back for about 15 seconds until the light flashes amber, then white. On AirPods 4 and Pro 3 you double-tap the front of the case instead. Apple describes this on its reset support page.
So if you want to sell AirPods, there are two things to do: remove them from your Apple Account in Find My and then reset them. AirPods store no photos or messages, so there is nothing else to erase. That is all you need to watch out for when selling.

Can I sell my used AirPods?
Yes. We buy used AirPods from the second generation onwards, from the standard AirPods through every Pro model to the AirPods Max. Both earbuds and the charging case must be included, and the AirPods must no longer be linked to your Apple Account. Work out the value on the model page.
Where can I sell my AirPods for cash?
Compared side by side: privately on willhaben or to a buyer like rebuy or us. A private sale often brings a little more, but many buyers are wary of used earbuds and you carry the fraud risk. With us you work out the value online, ship the AirPods free and have the money around 48 hours after the inspection.
What should I do before selling AirPods?
Three things: pack both earbuds and the charging case, remove the AirPods from your Apple Account in Find My and reset them to factory settings. Also give them a quick wipe with a dry cloth. State the battery honestly in the calculator, and it stays at the estimated amount.
What can I do with old AirPods?
If they are second generation or newer, sell them to us, as long as both earbuds and the case work. First-generation AirPods or ones with a dead battery go free to a Vienna recycling centre, or Apple recycles them. They do not belong in household waste because of the batteries.
How do I reset AirPods before selling them?
AirPods store no photos or messages; only the link to your account is removed. Remove them in the Find My app under Devices and then reset them with the button on the case, or on AirPods 4 and Pro 3 by double-tapping the front of the case. While they are in Find My, we cannot buy them.
Can I sell single AirPods or just the case?
No. We do not buy single earbuds or a case on its own, because they cannot be made into a complete set for resale. If you have both earbuds but no case, we pay at most the faulty price for the model. So the case is required if you want the full amount.

Apple does not name AirPods as a trade-in device on its Austrian trade-in page, but recycles them for free, even without a new purchase. There is usually no money or credit for them. With us you get a fixed amount for working AirPods by PayPal or bank transfer.
How much does a worn battery lower the price of my AirPods?
A lot, because the battery in the earbuds cannot be replaced. If your AirPods last clearly less than at the start, they usually drop a level, and with only a few minutes of runtime they count as faulty. Tell us in the calculator how long a charge still lasts.
Do I have to clean my AirPods before sending them?
Please do, out of consideration for everyone who handles them. A dry, soft cloth is enough for earbuds and case; brush the mesh carefully with a soft brush. No liquid should get into the openings. Heavy dirt on the mesh is taken into account in the condition rating.
Can I ship my AirPods from anywhere in Austria for free?
Yes. You get an insured shipping label by email and drop the AirPods at the nearest post office, whether in Graz, Linz or Vienna. Shipping costs you nothing. Keep the earbuds in the closed case and put the case in a small padded box.
What does it cost if I decline the checked offer for my AirPods?
Sending them in is free. If you decline our checked offer, we send the AirPods back and charge 10 € for return shipping. Beforehand we explain exactly what we found on battery, sound or case.
How are sold AirPods paid for?
By PayPal or bank transfer, around 48 hours after the inspection in our workshop. We deliberately do not pay cash. Every purchase comes with a written contract, even for small amounts.
Which AirPods does Reparo buy?
At fixed prices, AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation), AirPods 4 with and without noise cancellation, AirPods Pro (1st generation), AirPods Pro 2 and 3, and AirPods Max with Lightning or USB-C. There is no price list for the first generation, and we do not buy single earbuds.
