Selling your PS4 by post: how it works
Online in the calculator you answer how the PlayStation 4 starts, what it looks like and whether the controller works, and your estimate is ready. Once you agree, you get an insured label by email and drop the parcel at the post office without paying postage. Signing out and resetting your PS4
Upload your saves to PS Plus cloud storage or copy them to a USB stick. Then go to Settings › Account Management › Activate as Your Primary PS4 and choose Deactivate. Finally, reset the console under Settings › Initialisation › Initialise PS4 with the Full option. On the old hard drive this takes a while, but it is worth it.

Does 1 TB instead of 500 GB change the price of my PS4?
No, in the calculator both hard drive sizes have the same price. For a PS4 of this age, condition, fan and drive count far more than storage.
Is a PS4 Slim or Pro worth more than the original PS4?
Yes. The PS4 Slim gets 60 € like new, the PS4 Pro 85 €, the original model 50 €. You recognise the older PS4 by its wider casing with one glossy and one matte half.
Do you buy a PS4 that only shows a blue light and no picture?
Yes. A steady blue light without a picture is a known fault on the first PS4, usually caused by the HDMI circuitry or the power supply. Choose “Blue light only” in the calculator; unopened, we buy the PS4 from 15 €.
What does a PS4 with a very loud fan bring?
With a loudly whirring fan the PS4 is at 25 €, because we have to open it, clean it and renew the thermal paste. If it also switches off, select overheating. Do not open it yourself beforehand, that lowers the price further.
How much do scratches count when selling a PS4?
The glossy half of the PS4 casing scratches easily. Fine marks keep it at 40 €, deep scratches or broken feet put it at 25 €. What counts is what you see at a normal glance.
Does the DualShock 4 have to be included when I sell my PS4?
No, we also take a PlayStation 4 without a controller, but the calculator then deducts a noticeable amount. A working DualShock 4 keeps the price, a second one adds a bonus. A controller with stick drift or a weak battery costs a little but is accepted.
Do you buy PS4 games too?
No, we only buy the PS4 itself with controller and cables. For game discs a game shop or a private sale is the better choice. Take any disc out of the drive before shipping.
Can I send my PS4 for free from Lower Austria or Carinthia?
Yes, from anywhere in Austria. You get an insured label by email and drop the PS4 at the post office in St. Pölten, Klagenfurt or any other town. The price is the same everywhere.
What does it cost if I want my PS4 back after the inspection?
We charge 10 € for return shipping if you decline the inspected price. With a PS4 worth 25 to 50 €, it pays to state honestly in the calculator what does not work, then there are rarely surprises.
How do I deactivate my PS4 as primary console?
Under Settings › Account Management › Activate as Your Primary PS4, choose Deactivate. Then initialise the PS4 fully. Without this step it stays tied to your account, and we cannot buy it.
How do I get my money for the PS4?
Around 48 hours after the inspection by bank transfer or PayPal. We do not pay cash, not even for smaller amounts. That way every PS4 purchase is documented.
Can I trade in my PS4 at GameStop or MediaMarkt in Austria?
GameStop closed its Austrian stores in early 2023, according to press reports. MediaMarkt buys game consoles but, according to its trade-in page, pays only with a gift card. We pay for your PlayStation 4 in money, even if it is faulty.
Can I trade in my PS4 for a PS5 with you?
We do not sell consoles, so there is no direct swap. You can sell your PS4 to us for up to 50 € and put the money towards a PS5 wherever you buy it. Your digital purchases stay in your PlayStation account.
Should I sell my PS4 now or later?
Now. A PS4 loses value every year because more and more games only come out for the PS5. If you no longer switch it on, a well-kept unit still gets 40 to 50 € today.
