The in-display fingerprint sensor and repair implications
The 6T uses an optical (not ultrasonic) in-display fingerprint reader. The sensor sits behind the AMOLED panel and reads the print by flashing a green light through the screen. After any screen swap the fingerprint must be re-calibrated — we do this with the OnePlus engineering tool before returning the device. Aftermarket OLED is EUR 119, original Samsung-spec is EUR 169.
The dewdrop notch and digitiser stress points
Shrinking from the OnePlus 6 wider notch to the 6T dewdrop solved the “notch eats the status bar” complaint but introduced a new structural weak point — the very narrow dewdrop concentrates digitiser flex stress.
