Does the Glyph Interface still work after a screen replacement?
Yes. The Glyph Interface is a self-contained LED component on the back — mounted independently of the display, untouched during a screen swap. The Glyph flex cables sit separately in the chassis. After every repair we check all Glyph segments for function: notification strip, charging progress indicator, music sync and timer. As long as the housing wasn't mechanically damaged, the Always-On Glyph Notifications keep working exactly as before.
Can the transparent back of the Nothing Phone be repaired?
Technically yes, but it's more demanding than on standard smartphones. Original glass is harder to source than for mass-market brands. Aftermarket parts exist but they alter the look — the characteristic visible internal layout and the specific transparency level are hard to replicate. Nothing Phone (2) and Phone (2a) differ significantly on the inside. The Phone (2) is the flagship with a larger 6.7-inch OLED panel and a more elaborate Glyph Interface with more LED segments. The Phone (2a) is more compact and runs a simplified Glyph Interface with three strips. These differences mean different display modules, different battery capacities (Phone (2): 4700 mAh, Phone (2a): 5000 mAh) and different spare parts. Can the CMF Phone 1 be repaired?
Yes. The CMF Phone 1 is Nothing's entry-level sub-brand and is built more simply than the main Phone series. We repair screen damage from €69, battery replacement from €49 and charging port repairs. Since the CMF Phone 1 has a swappable polycarbonate back, housing repairs are far less complex here than on the transparent back glass of the main Phone series. Spare parts for the CMF Phone 1 are available — please ask in advance.
Do Nothing OS and all apps stay intact after a screen replacement?
Yes, fully. During a screen replacement we only open the housing and exchange the display module — internal storage, Nothing OS, all apps, settings and personal data remain untouched. Nothing OS — Carl Pei's Android skin — runs on a slim base, which means no deep system intervention is needed. Data loss can only occur with water damage or mainboard defects, never from a clean screen swap.
Is it worth repairing a Nothing Phone or should I buy new?
Rule of thumb: if the repair costs less than 50 % of the residual value, it's worth it. Nothing Phone (1) used is around €180–220 — screen repair from €79 is clearly worth it. Nothing Phone (2) is around €350–400 used — screen from €89, battery from €49 both make sense. Nothing Phone (3a) is still relatively new at around €400 new — repair is almost always the better choice. On top of that: Nothing positions itself as a sustainable alternative to the disposable phone — repair fits that philosophy better than a new purchase.
What should I do about water damage on Nothing Phone?
Important to know: the Nothing Phone (1) has no official IP rating — even brief water contact can cause damage. The Nothing Phone (2) has IP54 protection, which tolerates splashes but no immersion. If your Nothing Phone has water damage: switch it off immediately, don't charge it, don't try to blow-dry it. Bring it to us quickly. We clean the mainboard in an ultrasonic bath and check the battery, screen and board-level components. The earlier we react, the higher the rescue chance.
