A faulty iPhone still has value
Cracked glass, a tired battery or a charging port with a loose contact does not rule out a sale, as long as no third party has opened the iPhone before. With a broken display an iPhone 12 still brings from 35 €, an iPhone 15 from 80 €, an iPhone 16 from 110 € and an iPhone 17 Pro Max from 225 €.

How to prepare your iPhone for trade-in
Apple lists the same requirements for its own trade-in, so these instructions work either way. Back up to iCloud or a computer, then turn off Find My so the iPhone reaches us unlocked from your Apple Account. If a phone already shows “iPhone Locked to Owner”, only the account holder can lift that iCloud lock at icloud.com/find, or Apple with proof of purchase. Finally erase all content and settings, take out the SIM card and delete the eSIM when the reset asks about it.
Apple Trade In or selling to Reparo?

How iPhone trade-in values drop over time
The resale value of an iPhone goes down every month, and the largest step usually follows Apple’s new generation each September. Our prices show it: with 256 GB, a Pro Max brings up to 750 € as a 17, 540 € as a 16, 430 € as a 15, 365 € as a 14 and 290 € as a 13. Each year older costs between about 15 and 28 percent. To maximize the trade-in value, sell soon after you switch instead of keeping the old iPhone as a spare.
Why does the trade-in value look so low next to the price you paid? The buyer inspects the phone, prepares it for resale and carries the risk of a hidden fault, while every new generation lowers what second-hand buyers are willing to pay.

Mostly that depends on the model: an iPhone 17 Pro Max in like-new condition brings up to 750 €, an iPhone 15 up to 270 €, an iPhone 12 mini up to 110 €. How does Apple Trade In work for an iPhone?
You hand your old iPhone to Apple and the trade-in value is credited towards a new device or issued as an Apple Gift Card. If the condition does not match what you declared, Apple makes a revised offer. Devices with no value are recycled by Apple free of charge.
Is Apple Trade In in Austria worth it for my iPhone?
If you are buying a new iPhone from Apple anyway, the credit is convenient. If you would rather have money to spend on anything, store credit helps you less. Compare Apple’s figure with our calculator; we pay out by PayPal or bank transfer.
Can I trade in my iPhone with Apple without buying a new one?
According to Apple, yes: you then receive the value as an Apple Gift Card to redeem at Apple later. There is no cash payout. If you want money in your account for your iPhone, selling to a buyer such as Reparo is the better route.

What should I check before I sell my iPhone?
Work out the value first and state scratches, cracked glass and battery health honestly, then the estimate usually holds. Make a backup, turn off Find My and reset the iPhone. Shipping from anywhere in Austria is free, you get an insured label by email.
Do I have to sign out of my iPhone before trading it in?
Yes. As long as Find My is on, Activation Lock ties the iPhone to your Apple Account and nobody can set it up again. We cannot buy a locked device. Signing out takes two minutes: Settings, your name, Find My, switch off Find My iPhone.
How do I reset my iPhone before I sell or trade it in?
After the backup, go to Settings › General › Transfer or Reset iPhone and choose Erase All Content and Settings. That permanently removes photos, messages and accounts. Apple’s official guide is at support.apple.com/en-at/109511.
Can I sell an iPhone with a cracked screen?

How much more is an iPhone with more storage worth?
That varies by model. For an iPhone 15 we add 30 € for 256 GB, for an iPhone 16 Pro 45 € for 256 GB and 100 € for 512 GB. You find your storage under Settings › General › About, and the calculator adds the bonus automatically.
What if I do not accept the checked price for my iPhone?
Then you simply decline, and we send your iPhone back for a return fee of 10 €. Sending it in stays free. Before you decide, we explain why the checked price differs from the estimate.
When is the money for my sold iPhone in my account?
Around 48 hours after the inspection in our workshop we release the payment by PayPal or bank transfer. We deliberately do not pay cash, and every purchase is covered by a written sales contract.
Can I sell a second-hand or refurbished iPhone?
Yes, a second-hand or refurbished iPhone, for example from refurbed or Back Market, is bought just like one bought new. If parts were replaced, say so in the calculator; original manufacturer parts count differently from third-party parts. What counts is what our technician finds during the inspection.
